“I get to be the Social Studies teacher that I want to be here.”
Mr. Nathan, 11th Grade American History Teacher, Freire Wilmington
Freire Schools empowers teachers to bring creativity, experience, and passion to their teaching. With support from your peers and leaders, teachers are encouraged to innovate and take risks in order to design student-focused lessons that lead to deeper learning and student engagement.
Freire Schools provides the instructional freedom and autonomy teachers want and need. As a Freire Schools teacher, you’ll have the freedom to draw from multiple curricular resources to create your own instructional materials, rather than being forced to use a fully scripted curriculum. You’ll have the flexibility to supplement state mandated tests with unique assessments of your own—by building on formative and summative assessments created by your peers or by creating your own. Across the curriculum, you’ll have the green light from your school leadership to take risks and innovate.
