Paul Ramirez is the Chief Executive Officer of Freire Schools, where he leads the strategic vision of Freire’s four charter schools across Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE. A committed leader with over fifteen years of experience, Paul has championed access to high-quality education–expanding rigorous programs, raising student achievement, and steering schools through growth and change.
Before becoming CEO, Paul served as Freire Schools’ Chief Leadership Officer, supervising Heads of School, developing the next generation of Freire leaders, and guiding core network operations. He first joined Freire in 2014 as the founding Head of School for Freire Charter School Wilmington. During this tenure, Paul was honored with Teach For America’s Excellence in School Leadership Award and the Delaware Charter Schools Network’s Impact Award.
Paul began his career in education as a Teach For America corps member at Howard High School of Technology in Wilmington, Delaware, where he was named Teacher of the Year. He holds a bachelor’s degree in literature from Yale University and a master’s in teaching from Wilmington University. He is a Pahara Fellow, and an alum of Lead for Delaware and Leadership Philadelphia.
