Chris has spent the last 15 years working in various roles within the Freire Schools network. Prior to joining the Network Office, Chris served as an Academic Advisor, Head of Academic Affairs, Head of Academic Supports, and most recently as Head of School at our Chestnut Street campus. Blending the values instilled in him from both his upbringing along with a rich experience provided by a Jesuit education, Chris’ approach has always been about working with and for those that he serves.

Upon graduation and prior to settling down in Philadelphia to put his teaching certification to use, Chris had a desire to gain both experience and perspective by living in a different area. Chris spent years volunteering (and eventually employed) with a nonprofit in the Bay Area. The experience of working with adults in a recovery program was humbling and reinforced the importance of what both a school and community can do to help young people as they grow into adulthood.

As a school leader, Chris has learned and continues to learn from those that he works with and for. During his tenure as school leader, Chris helped navigate the many challenges educators, parents, and students have faced in the last decade as society has undergone rapid change. As a self-identified ”endurance athlete,” Chris knows the importance of setting goals, managing setbacks, and the sense of fulfillment and accomplishment one experiences by seeing things through.  This mentality, along with a lot of support and grace from the community, has helped him and the school get better and stronger.

Chris’ current position at the network will allow him to apply his experience to campus operations, where he will support school leadership and school climate staff and lead campus operations and admissions across the Freire Schools network.
